Since the last issue, we have welcomed 4 new members to the OSG: you can read more about them on the Members-Only pages.
Neeltje Boogert, The Netherlands: I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of Exeter Centre for Ecology and Conservation in Penryn, Cornwall. My students and I are investigating otter social learning in Asian Small-Clawed and Smooth Coated Otters, to what extent, and how, otters may copy each other to acquire information about novel food sources and predators.
Subarna Ghimire, Nepal: After working on amphibians, I have become interested in otters, and after undetaking training in Goa in otter surveying, am now planning a study of two local river systems (Madi and Midim) for otters.
Komal Gogi, India: I am working at Wild Otters, Goa, on smooth-coated and small-clawed otters, doing field surveys, including camera trapping and working with local populations on engagement and education, and conflict management.
Meredith Knott, USA: My love of otters began when I worked at an aquarium. For 12 years, I managed two North American River Otters, raised an orphaned cub, and helped to write the NARO captive care guidelines for the Otters in Zoos etc taskforce. I currently work for Species360, managing ZIMS, the Zoological Information Management System, the most widely used records management system for zoos in the world.
